Computer Vision-based Quality Inspection
Introduction
Fitco worked with a contractor company in Jubail that manufactures modular housing units. They invoice their clients based on quality inspections before dispatching the housing unit. The quality inspection of the modular housing units was arbitrary, and the presence, quantity and quality of installations was difficult to determine. This resulted in inaccurate invoicing leading to lower level of revenue and customer satisfaction. Manual checking installations was tedious and vulnerable to human errors.
Solution
Fitco developed a computer vision solution for the aforementioned problem. As part of this solution, an individual captures images and videos of the installations in the modular housing units. Image analysis is done via Computer Vision (CV). The application reads and understands the images in real-time. An automatic report is generated which details the presence/absence and/or quality of the installations. As a result of this, invoicing is carried out accurately and our client receives payments accordingly. Errors in the system of invoicing are completely removed.
The Impact
As a result of the deployment of the solution, the process of modular housing units inspection was significantly improved and streamlined. A great deal of accuracy and precision was brought to the invoicing mechanism, which automatically resulted in greater client satisfaction and improvement in the reliability of the company. There was also a significant 20% increase in their revenue.
